Zombies on TV

Fear Itself

While zombie movies seem to be multiplying like rabbits, for some reason the jump to television seems to be a difficult one. Sure there have been rumors and pilots that go nowhere, but no real, substantial “made-for-tv” zombie shows.

Finally, it looks like we’ll get a little taste on NBC with Fear Itself. In a similar format as The Twilight Zone, Fear Itself will feature at least one zombie-themed episode out the thirteen episodes already filmed. No date has been set for the launch of the series.

Rue Morgue January 2008 Issue Out, Now With More Zombies!

mag-cover.jpg

The January issue of Rue Morgue , #75 on sale now, has some great zombie related interviews and articles inside. Included is an interview with George A. Romero (concerning Diary of the Dead, zombie films in general and the travesty of Day of the Dead 2: Contagium) and articles on Babylon Fields (the zombie series CBS passed on picking up), the re-mastered DVD reissue of the 1964 film, The Last Man On Earth, with Vincent Price (depending where you stand on that argument – this is the only version that I consider to be remotely a zombie film), and Rob Sachetto (from zombieportraits.com). Plus a great year-end wrap-up on the best of horror and the “Top Six Romero Gore Gags”! Only $8.95 US/CAN.

No Babylon Fields on CBS Fall Line-Up

cbs_logo.jpg

CBS has passed on the zombie-crime drama Babylon Fields for it’s new fall season, but notes it may see life as a mid-season replacement. Maybe. Check out some clips from the pilot here. These are pretty decent clips and I would definetly check this show out if it aired. It couldn’t be any worse than Jericho or their 101 crappy sitcoms. Plus, it would be interesting to see how mainstream TV viewers would react to a show that incorporates necrophilia into its sweeps week push.
