8-Bit Left 4 Dead! Kill Zombies Like It’s 1985!

Logo_L4D

Holy shit! It’s an 8-Bit version of Left 4 Dead! Go see Pixel Force: Left 4 Dead for yourself. It’s available as a free download from Eric Ruth Games. Here’s a brief description from their site:

Go alone, or invite a friend for 2 player co-op against the zombie apocalypse in all 4 of the original game campaigns.  2 difficulties and all 4 of the survivors make a glorious 8-bit appearance, complete with first and second tier weapons scattered along your path to escape.

Thanks to game blog Co-Optimus for the head’s up on this.

Left 4 Dead Cosplay

George emailed to alert us to these awesome Left 4 Dead costumes spotted at this year’s ComicCon: Bill, Zoey, and a Tank, a Witch, and another Zoey. Very cool costumes, but how the heck does the Tank move around?

Augmented Reality Zombie Video Game

Augmented Reality is the next big thing in video games. Basically the concept is this: the computer takes live video of the world, inserts graphics of it’s own into that real-time video feed, and allows players to interact with it. Computer graphic chip maker Nvidia has been working on a mobile device chip and released a demo zombie game showing off it’s cool Augmented Reality potential. Players take a use the phone to shoot at zombies, and can even insert Skittles into the map to act as bombs for taking out zombies. Is this the future of gaming? Check out the video below!

Left 4 Dead 2 Announced

Many people wrote us to let us know that Left 4 Dead 2 was announced yesterday at the annual E3 conference. Not only was it announced, but it was also dated for release this November! The sequel to last year’s hit zombie game will have a stronger focus on melee weapons, new bosses and maps, and in general just more of what we loved so much about the first game.

Prototype – Zombie Game?

Last time we posted about the upcoming video game Prototype there was a good deal of discussion on whether or not it was a “zombie game”. Activision released the video above showing the full introduction to the game, and I think it finally lays that issue to rest. What are your thoughts? Is this is a zombie game, a super-hero game, or both?

Left 4 Dead DLC

It’s finally here! Yesterday Valve released the long-awaited downloadable content for Left 4 Dead. I was so excited about this that I played while I should have been working and tending to other important things in my life.

Survival Mode is intense! And the new “Last Stand” lighthouse level is the toughest to withstand of them all. And the fact that your melee attack has to “recharge” in Survival Mode makes it all the more challenging.

If you haven’t gotten online to play this yet, what the hell are you waiting for? It’s the perfect way to whisk away several hours.

Zombies!!! Video Game Developer

Last October, Erik confirmed that we’d be seeing Zombies!!! on a variety of gaming platforms some time in 2009.

Well, we’ve hit a little bump in the road for the development of the video game adaptation of popular board game. The original developer, Big Rooster, seems to have dropped from the face of the earth completely. The creator of the board game, Twilight Creations, is currently looking for a new developer to bring this game to the video gaming world.

I’ll keep you updated as to how this affects the release schedule.

Zombie Shooter PC Game

I haven’t tried this one yet, but it looks fun. The title says it all — you shoot zombies. Kinda like Diablo with zombies. You can download it now from the official web site for $19.99, or go buy it from Amazon.com for half the price. Your call. From the official web site:

“The human race is in danger again. This time scientists could not cope the imminent threat and became monsters themselves. Crowds of zombie people filled the secret research base. The dreadful contagion is about to spread earthwide.”

The web site has some screen shots so you get the idea.

Apple’s Tapping of the Dead App for iPhone/ iPod Touch

Now you can fight off the zombie hordes on your iPhone, or Ipod Touch, by…um, tapping them all to death. Yup, tapping…in Tapping of the Dead! Set to the metal song “Tap or Die” by the band Apokefale, written specifically for the game, you can tap your way through the apocalypse. The goal is to tap on the zombies as fast as possible to kill them all before they kill you. This app is available from Apple for only $8. Here’s the promo video for it:
