We were all looking forward to getting our mitts on some of the new Night of the Living Dead Mego style toys at last weekend’s Flashback Weekend, but unfortunately they were not available. Scott from FearWerx wrote us to say:

Greetings!

Scott from FEARWERX dropping by with an update about the MEGO Night of the Living Dead figures.
A small setback with the manufacturers in China have pushed the release date for these toys back to October.
So the bad news is that eager fans will have to wait.
The good news is that they’ll be here in time for Halloween!
And thank you for the Zombie Reporting Center for giving these toys a write-up.
Keep up the good work!

I’m glad to hear they will still be available, though I am more than a little bummed I wasn’t able to get the “Graveyard Zombie” figure signed by Bill Hinzman!

ThinkGeek has this awesome remote control walking zombie toy. By using a remote (shaped like a brain, of course) you can control the zombie’s movements! It stands a somewhat impressive 8 inches tall and also groans as it walks. They’re currently out of stock but will reportedly have more within 1-3 weeks.

I came across these huge 19″ Custom Lego Zombies on the DYZPlastic website, and while I’n not normally into Lego-oriented stuff, these were pretty great. Here’s a close-up of them:

Also, just so you realize how big these things actually are…

Once again, Archie McPhee brings us some zombie goodness with this set of Glow Zombie Finger Puppets. All five come in a set for the cheap price of $4.95. Description from their site:

EMCE Toys, part of FearWerx, is releasing a new series of 8″ poseable Mego-style figures based on the classic Night of the Living Dead. From their press release:

The first two figures to be released are Bill Hinzman as the “Graveyard Zombie” from the film’s opening scene, and Duane Jones as “Ben”, the rifle-toting hero. later this year, EMCE will release Judith O’Dea as “Barbara” and Kyra Schon as the “Karen Cooper Zombie”. All figures are aprroved by the actors or their respective estates and are timed to the 40th anniversary of NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD. The heads are sculpted by fan favorite James Brady in the classic Mego rotocoast plastic style, and the figures are packaged in MEGO-style blister packaging with illustrations by original MEGO artist Harold Shull.

These figures look amazing and will be available June 2008, retailing for $17.99 each.
