New figures for the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides premiered during a preview for the American International Toy Fair in New York this week and feature zombie figures. These 4″ figures, when placed under a black light, reveal a “zombie” version of the character. I use quotations because apparently some scribbles painting on makes them a “zombie” (Oh! I did it again!). I’m guessing that this zombie look has something to do with the upcoming film, but I’m not really know since I’m not a fan of this series. You can see more of the figures here. Anyway, if you want a shitty looking toy, buy these! I wouldn’t though.

Kevin Smith must be a fan of zombie movies – first the homage to Dawn of the Dead in Zach and Miri Make a Porno and now this limited edition “inaction” figure. We had the pleasure of meeting the Time and Space Toys crew at Flashback Weekend and let me tell ya, they are doing some amazing stuff! They sell all kinds of horror collectibles both online and in their store located in the Monroeville Mall (which you may know as the mall from the original Dawn of the Dead). Today they announced a new line of 12 inch action figures they are producing called Monroeville Zombies.

The Zombie Cop, as pictured above, is the first in the line and is limited to only 50 pieces. It will be available first at the HorrorFind Weekend convention next week in the Baltimore/Washington D.C. area. Manufactured by Peril Unlimited, the toys are fully poseable with real cloth clothing and accessories. A special, secondary paint application gives the figures a very realistic textured look, and special distressing of the clothing gives them a worn-and-torn zombie look.

I would love to get my hands on one! More figures are due to be released at upcoming conventions. We’re looking forward to more!
