Rudolph, The Zombie Reindeer

He ate Dasher, then Dancer,
Then Prancer and Vixen.
He downed Comet and Cupid
And Donner and Blitzen.
Yes, he ate them all, the most
Famous undead reindeer of all:
Rudolph, the zombie reindeer,
Caught the virus through his nose.
And if you ever saw him,
You would even say he’s gross.
All of the other reindeer
Tried real hard to get away.
But they didn’t count on Rudolph
Eating them anyway.
Then one foggy Christmas Eve,

Check out this CNN video report on Jaun of the Dead, the first Cuban zombie film ever produced. Looks interesting, but we’ll have to wait until next year when it hits the film festival circuit, and even longer for a possible theatrical run or DVD release, before we get to see it.

DC Comics imprint Vertigo launches their new zombie series I, Zombie, by Chris Roberson and Mike Allred, this May and issue one will only cost $1.00! I’m excited to see Allred’s crisp, clean style back doing horror comics and can not wait to read the first issue. You can sample I, Zombie by reading the seven page prequel from last year’s House of Mystery Halloween Annual online for free. Game developer Epicenter has mixed together some of the best video game components of all time- rock music, zombies and…Neil Patrick Harris? Yes, all three comprise their upcoming game Rock of the Dead. Slay zombies while rocking out! Like Typing of the Dead, this game promises to give the player something a little different than just shooting zombies in the head. We’ve all known about George Romero’s newest film for some time now and today we finally have a name to go with it: George A. Romero’s Survival of the Dead. The film, which is set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, will follow Crocket (one of the characters from Diary of the Dead) as he escapes to an island, only to find himself in the middle of a “Hatfields and McCoys” dispute between two families.

The name “Survival of the Dead” seems significant. As Romero’s series evolves, so to do the zombies. Based on Land of the Dead, it’s clear that the zombies are fighting for their survival – will this film be the epic battle that finally settles things?

Viewers will get the usual chills and thrills, and expect the usual Romero social commentary in this latest installment of his series. There are a few stills as well as a synopsis available on the Toronto International Film Festival website, so be sure to check it out!
