Check out this CNN video report on Jaun of the Dead, the first Cuban zombie film ever produced. Looks interesting, but we’ll have to wait until next year when it hits the film festival circuit, and even longer for a possible theatrical run or DVD release, before we get to see it.
We just learned about the passing of French writer/director Jean Rollin, after a long illness, at the age of 72. Rollin was known as a great director in the horror genre, most widely known for his vampire films, but he was also an accomplished producer and actor also. Readers of the ZRC might know him as the writer and director of the great 1978 French zombie film Les Raisins de la Mort (aka The Grapes of Death, Pesticide), and director of the not so great Le Lac des Morts Vivants (akak Zombie Lake, The Lake of the Living Dead). Our condolences go out to his family and friends.

The Walking Dead Season 1 will be released in the U.S. and Canada on March 8, 2011, from Anchor Bay Entertainment on Blu-Ray/ DVD. Season 1 retails at $39.98, and also includes these bonus features: Making of…, Webisodes, Audio Commentaries and Behind-the-Scenes footage. UK and international release dates have not been announced yet, but we will keep you posted!

Can you wait until October 2011 for Season 2 or is that making you insane? We want to know your thoughts and feelings!

P.S. Hi Don.

Soooo…the second I get back onto the daily posting schedule, my internet goes out. it should be back within a day or so (cross your fingers!) and we’ll be back on schedule. If I could steal this laptop without my friend knowing, I’d be posting more tonight :( Some ZRC News: Last month’s contest winner prize is heading out, and this month’s contest will be postponed a week due to the internet fail in my home. Here’s a hint though- it has zombies in it! Thank you to all our loyal readers and please keep reading the ZRC!

Check out this sneak-peek of the Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: The Graphic Novel, adapted by scribe Tony Lee (Doctor Who comic) and illustrated by Cliff Richards (Buffy the Vampire Slayer comic), courtesy of the awesome pop-culture blog Pop Candy.

Awesome! Viz Media is going to be releasing Q Hayashida’s dark as fuck manga series Dorohedoro, starting this month. While not primarily a zombie series, there is so much darkness and grit and monsters and zombies, that any fan of the genre should take a chance and check it out. Only $12.99 for 176 pages!
