Zombie fans who are NOT going to be in Chicago to visit us this weekend at Flashback Weekend but are in the Portland Maine area should definitely check out the annual Zombie Kickball event. If combining the words “zombie” and “kickball” doesn’t do it for you, I don’t know what will.
Whether you live in the New Jersey or Pittsburgh area, this weekend (June 20-22) you have two chances to make it out to a horror convention!

Happening in New Jersey is the Fangoria’s Weekend of Horrors, with the Night of the Living Dead 40th Anniversary Tour with George A. Romero (Legendary Zombie Director), Judith O’Dea (Night of the Living Dead 1968), Russ Streiner (NOTLD 1968), Bill Hinzman (NOTLD 1968), Kyra Schon (NOTLD 1968), Goerge Kosana (NOTLD 1968), Marilyn Eastman (NOTLD 1968), and John Russo (co-writer, NOTLD 1968). Other guests include Sergio Stivaletti (FX on Dellamorte Dellamore), Ken Foree (Dawn of the Dead 1978), Shawn Roberts (Land of the Dead, Diary of the Dead), and an American Zombie preview with director John Solomon.

Also happening is the HorrorHound Weekend Pittsburgh, with Tom Savini (FX Legend/ Director/ Actor and more), Bill Moseley ( Night of the Living Dead 1990, upcoming Dead Air), Ottoviano Dell’Acqua (THE WORM-EYED ZOMBIE!, Zombi 2), Howard Sherman (Day of the Dead 1985), John Amplas (DayOTD 1985), Greg Nicotero (FX Legend and more), Allan Troutman (Return of the Living Dead), Mike Christopher (DOTD 1978), Beatrice Ring (Patricia, Zombi 3), Leonard A. Zombie fans across the pond will be gathering this fall for Zombiecon - a 3 day convention of “Blood Filled Madness”. This is a fan-run event filled with 3 days of zombie makeup tutorials, zombie movie screenings, zombie games, and even zombie prom night. They’ve managed to score several interesting guests, including Charlie Adlard of Walking Dead fame.
Don’t forget to check out our convention listing page for information on other horror conventions!

For most of us it’s a long weekend, and if you’re a New Yorker, it could mean a long weekend of drinking with some of your zombie pals. A semi-regular event, the NYC Zombie Crawl is taking place this Sunday, May 25th in Brooklyn. Things kick off at Duff’s Bar, then move to Passout Records, and finally the night ends with a “Zombie Sideshow”.
Now, I know many of our readers live in the NYC area based on the free stickers we’ve sent out, so if you’re in the area check it out and send us some pictures!

Zombie Walk Detroit will be once again hosting a Zombie Walk, this time in Greek Town, Detroit.
Last year, the Zombie Reporting Center showed up and created a little video which you can view here. The ZWD staff does an EXCELLENT job coordinating these events so it is not to be missed! It also happens to fall on same day as the Red Bull Air Race so hopefully we’ll see some out of town zombies as well!

In you live in or around the Chicago area, make sure you leave June 21st open, because it’s the first ever Zombie March Chicago! From their MySpace:
The more people the better, so invite your friends too. Invite the people you hang out with and help us break the record of 1,200 zombies! …Oh wait, we already have! On our Facebook’s group page, we have over 1,500 zombies going to show up, and the event is still months away. Be part of the biggest and first zombie walk in Chicago. If this goes well, there will be more to follow.
If they can actually have 1,500 zombies show up, that would be awesome, but only time will tell. Good luck Chicago!
