US National Film Archive Is Thrilled By Zombies

Michael Jackson’s zombie infested Thriller video, along with 24 other films, will be added to the US National Film Archive this year. The films were picked by the National Film Preservation Board and by members of the public and their nominations. Films were picked for their “national significance”. George A. Romero’s Night of the Living Dead should of been the first zombie film included, but Thriller made it on it’s merits of pushing “the development of the music video”. Read the full BBC article here.

    NotLD is already part of the National Film Registry; not sure there’s a difference between that and the National Film Archive. It’s good to see this site is still alive – well, let’s say that it continues to exist.

    Don: trying to separate between those two and all other U.S. film databases and collections was making my head spin, so if anybody actually knows, let me know! :) And thanks for the kind words and for checking in on the site over our down time. I’m glad that some of our readers stuck around. We’re doing our best to get the site up and running again. Lots of small changes have been made and there is more to come!
