George Romero’s New Movie Finally Gets a Name!

We’ve all known about George Romero’s newest film for some time now and today we finally have a name to go with it: George A. Romero’s Survival of the Dead. The film, which is set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, will follow Crocket (one of the characters from Diary of the Dead) as he escapes to an island, only to find himself in the middle of a “Hatfields and McCoys” dispute between two families.

The name “Survival of the Dead” seems significant. As Romero’s series evolves, so to do the zombies. Based on Land of the Dead, it’s clear that the zombies are fighting for their survival – will this film be the epic battle that finally settles things?

Viewers will get the usual chills and thrills, and expect the usual Romero social commentary in this latest installment of his series. There are a few stills as well as a synopsis available on the Toronto International Film Festival website, so be sure to check it out!

I dunno. It seems kind of an awkward title.

Sure does….though I absolutely love the genre, I hope Romero doesn’t go “Brett Favre” on us.

I love ” good ” zombie flicks. Unfortunately they’re aren’t many of them out there. Zombies are dead! And being dead, I don’t think you can think. I thought Romero started heading downhill with Day of the Dead. And sadly has continued down that path. The zombies are getting smarter?! WTF?! That is the dumbest idea I’ve heard of. Night of the Living Dead was one of my favs, since I was a kid. Dawn was ok but cheesy. I’m a fan of survival. The reason I like zombie flicks, is because it’s worst case scenario. Hopefully someone new will become what George could have been. I know alot of you will hate on me for writing this, but I call’s em like I see’s em.

i am absolutely obsessed with zombie flicks! Romero has made some great zombie films, but i have to agree with the last couple going downhill. i think land of the dead was the worst so far! hated it. making them smart is a bad idea. they scare the ba-jesus outta us already! making them fast, now thats pretty awsome! i about flipped watching the fast ones in day of the dead! loved that one! dawn of the dead was the best so far! i want more like that one! land of the dead sucks, please go up from there, not down. do i own it? hell yeah! if its a zombie film, i have it! but do i watch it? no. making them fast, you should keep doing. but please dont make them think. it makes them look dumb still, but in a worse way! having some memory is good. out thinking humans? no. but please keep making zombie movies for us!! your my favorite thus far George Romero!!
