Frosty the Snowman: Zombie Movie or Not?

Zombie Movie or Not? will be taking a break through the holidays and will return in early 2009. Thanks for reading and for all the comments/ discussions on these fine (and some not so fine) movies!

Where do we draw the line on what is and what is not a zombie movie? We just can’t decide on our own, so every Monday we’ll post a new movie to be debated by, you, our readers and ask the question: Zombie Movie Or Not? Every Sunday we’ll post our findings and possibly strike that movie off our Zombie Movie List. The week should give you enough time to rent the movie if need be or you desire.

What every reader must keep in mind is that there are two basic types of zombie that every zombie movie based off of – the Voodoo Zombie and the Romero Zombie. The Voodoo Zombie, while not always raised by Voodoo necessarily, is basically a person, either undead or entranced, that is controlled by a person or entity for the purpose of completing tasks, often killing. Romero Zombies are basically mindless, flesh-eating undead whose bite will turn victims into zombies. Now, not all movies adhere to all of these rules, but if the basics are there, you got a zombie movie.

This weeks debate is over Frosty the Snowman (1969) Featuring the voices of Jimmy Durante and Jackie Vernon.

IS: Frosty comes “to life” through “magic”. Hmmm…black magic!?! He then rampages through town looking for all of their children. To eat their brains!?! Sound’s like a zombie to me!

IS NOT: Seriously…HE’S A FUCKING SNOWMAN!

Now it’s up to you, reader. What do you think? Frosty the Snowman: Zombie Movie Or Not?

p.s. Merry X(ombi)-mas!

p.p.s. If you are still reading this, it’s a joke.

Yes, so you may have a horrible X-mas now at the thought of Frosty being a zombie…but NO ONE can complain about their vision of Frosty being destroyed until you see Jack Frost. And, no I am not talking about about the Micheal Keaton movie. I mean the killer snowman movie with the rape seen in the shower with the carrot….
That my friends blows my vision of frosty out the window.
Anyhow…no. Not a zombie movie. He never ate the children, although I wanted him to.

I quite seriously think he can be classed as a classic voodoo zombie. Vote yes from me! Happy Christmas! Have some more sherry or brandy!

Not a zombie movie, but I do see a “re-imagining” in the near future!
