Day of the Dead (2008): Zombie Movie or Not?

Where do we draw the line on what is and what is not a zombie movie? We just can’t decide on our own, so every Monday we’ll post a new movie to be debated by, you, our readers and ask the question: Zombie Movie Or Not? Every Sunday we’ll post our findings and possibly strike that movie off our Zombie Movie List. The week should give you enough time to rent the movie if need be or you desire.
What every reader must keep in mind is that there are two basic types of zombie that every zombie movie based off of – the Voodoo Zombie and the Romero Zombie. The Voodoo Zombie, while not always raised by Voodoo necessarily, is basically a person, either undead or entranced, that is controlled by a person or entity for the purpose of completing tasks, often killing. Romero Zombies are basically mindless, flesh-eating undead whose bite will turn victims into zombies. Now, not all movies adhere to all of these rules, but if the basics are there, you got a zombie movie.

This weeks debate is over Day of the Dead (2008) Starring Mena Suvari and Nick Cannon.
IS: People get infected with a virus that brings them back from the dead to be mindless flesh eating ghouls. Textbook zombie move, duh.
IS NOT: The fact that a virus brings them back negates its zombiehood, let alone the fact that the “dead” return to be super ninja/spiderman “zombies”. NOT a zombie movie, just blasphemy
Now it’s up to you, reader. What do you think? Day of the Dead (2008): Zombie Movie Or Not?

this is a zombie movie… its full of zombies.. although not following the exact George A. Romero movie (but who does nowadays anyways)? Since it deals with the living dead Id say it meets all the requirements for zombie movie..
Wether or not the movie was a peice of shit, and it was, is another matter all together.
Its a zombie movie… an inconsistent and bad one… but a zombie movie.
/sigh
this is a zombie movie, i guess. it doesn;t mean i don’t want to projectile vomit like the dude on the cover because of the amount of suck involved. how about instead of watching this piece of garbage you punch yourself in the nuts for an hour, you will have spent your hour doing somehting far more enjoyable. fuck this piece of shit movie, fuck it in the ass with a chainsaw fist.

YES, zombie movie. Bad plot and even worse acting, but still zombies. Oddly enough, I just discovered that one of the makeup/fx artists I worked with at The Mortuary Haunted House was the “foam department” for this movie. I’ve yet to talk to him about his experience on the project.
Though watching this movie was like getting a paper-cut to the eye…..it’s a zombie movie (with spiderman zombies).
It’s a zombie movie. It’s also a steaming pile of crap.
no question.zombie movie for sure
UGGH YES! as much as it hurts yes
other than the fact that what we have pretty established that yes this is a zombie movie and it is a real piece of dog shit, what do you guys think of the zombies… as far as special effects and all that. let’s ignore the fact that they have suddenly been bitten by radioactive zombie spiders…. anyone got any feedback to their opinion of the zombies
Zombie movie, albeit a mediocre one.
it’s a zombie movie.
not romero zombies, and not a good movie. but it is nonetheless…
I thought the zombie effects were okay, at least for a lower-budget film. Too bad they moved more like Spiderman than the living dead.
