I will definitely rent this for the commentary and making-of featurette (or if I have the disposable income to do so, purchase it). I think it is an amazing handheld film and kicks the crap out of [REC], or to compare it to non-zombie handhelds, Cloverfield, and Blair Witch.
I think this was a phenomenal movie, but [REC] was FAR better! No contest.
Yeah, tell ‘em Jef!
Intresting and you can learn from it. Yes.. Good movie to view just for watching a movie. No.
Just like the NONE zombie movie [REC]*, its a movie you fall asleep to.
*They were possessed by a demon.
FINALLY!
The audio recording in REC mentioned enzymes and flu. Sounds to me like the girl had an unknown pathogen, which the Catholic Church, being the Catholic Church, mistook for Satan.
That’s funny, Tomb, it’s usually the possessions and supernatural zombies that people define as zombies, not the viral infection type, which people refer to as NON-zombies. I go ahead and include both.
Besides, I think Don’s assessment of the movie is a sound notion.
My take on the actual cause of the epidemic in REC goes something like this: The Catholic Church got hold of an actual possessed person, but no mumbo-jumbo in the world would cure the unfortunate victim. So they reverted to science and tried to approach it as if it was a disease. The thing is that it wasn’t any kind of pathogen until they managed to synthesize whatever it was that was effecting the patient physically. So, they made a supernatural possession into a virological contaminant, and now it’s spreading through animals and whatnot. Demonic possession on a grand scale, oh boy…
Well, that’s how I prefer to see it, at least. Because it would be a really neat idea for the sequel… A virus that cannot be stopped with any conventional means, but with Faith or some sort of Occult dealings.
