Where do we draw the line on what is and what is not a zombie movie? We just can’t decide on our own, so every Monday we’ll post a new movie to be debated by, you, our readers and ask the question: Zombie Movie Or Not? Every Sunday we’ll post our findings and possibly strike that movie off our Zombie Movie List. The week should give you enough time to rent the movie if need be or you desire.
What every reader must keep in mind is that there are two basic types of zombie that every zombie movie based off of – the Voodoo Zombie and the Romero Zombie. The Voodoo Zombie, while not always raised by Voodoo necessarily, is basically a person, either undead or entranced, that is controlled by a person or entity for the purpose of completing tasks, often killing. Romero Zombies are basically mindless, flesh-eating undead whose bite will turn victims into zombies. Now, not all movies adhere to all of these rules, but if the basics are there, you got a zombie movie.

This weeks debate is over Friday The 13th Part VI: Jason Lives (1986) Directed by Tom McLoughlin
IS: Jason Vorhees, though mistaken for dead several times in previous films, is actually reanimated from his grave into undeath to stalk the living as a zombie.
IS NOT: He’s just a reanimated dead person. He’s not mindless or infectious or flesh-craving, he’s just a reanimated dead guy.
Now it’s up to you, reader. What do you think? Friday The 13th Part VI: Jason Lives: Zombie Movie Or Not?

The debate for Night Of The Creeps, Zombie Movie Or Not?, received 13 comments and 9 non-repeating votes. With 9 votes for and 0 votes against being a Zombie Movie, as far as this site is concerned, Night Of The Creeps IS a Zombie Movie.
Stay tuned for next week’s debate: Friday The 13th VI: Jason Lives, Zombie Movie Or Not?

Awesome news for Michiganders and Midwesterners alike! Michigan is the newest home to a HorrorHound Weekend show, with HorrorHound Weekend Detroit happening October 24-26. While they names is a little misleading, since it is actually taking place in Ypsilianti, MI (which isn’t in Detroit), we are still excited to be having a show happen in our backyard. Tom “Thrill Me” Atkins (Night of the Creeps) has already been announced as a guest, with more coming soon! Watch here for more updates.

This week’s entry is called Zafehouse and it’s a zombie survival simulator. The focus is not on action, like many zombie games, but instead your goal is search the surrounding area for survivors and resources and try to stay alive for 72 days. It’s a fun spin on things and takes me back to the early days of text based computer games. You can download it directly here.

Check out this new zombie film Sick and the Dead, from Magic Twanger Productions. It premiered last month at the Carolina Theatre in Durham, NC, but I haven’t seen any kind of theatrical release date for it yet, but I’m guessing it will be available straight to DVD at some point. I’ll definitely give it a watch when it becomes available. You can see the trailer at their site, and you can find more info on the film, and see tons of behind the scenes/ production photos at the film’s MySpace. It’s kind of a pain in the ass to read the main page, but it’s worth it for the photos.

So it seems the YouTube “Internet Zombie Movie” we told you about at the beginning of the month is taking off. You can keep up to date on it by visiting their site/ blog, YouTube channel, and forum. Seems like they’re taking this all somewhat serious. I’m interested to see what they pull off.

Deadline for entry is Wednesday, June 25th at Midnight (EST)!

A supposed media leak revealed several new video games that may be under development, the coolest of which is Spider-Man vs. Marvel Zombies. According to the source, the game takes place in the year 2149 in “a warped version of Earth” where everyone’s favorite web-slinging superhero must fight the zombie hordes or become a zombie himself. If this takes place in 2149, wouldn’t Spider-Man be dead?
At any rate, this is all still rumor until any official announcements are made. As usual, the ZRC will do our best to keep you updated!
