Zombie Strippers Review

Where do I even start with this? Really. This film is nothing more than bad over-acting and special effects. It’s starts off with a mildly humorous fake newscast (mostly poking fun at the Bush administration) and gives you the low-down on the public nudity ban in America. Then it goes directly into a scene at a research lab/hospital, where zombies have been trapped inside, and there’s a military outfit who’s just arrived to take care of the mess. This has to be the most unbelievable group of soldiers ever. One’s even wearing a Misfits t-shirt! When the soldiers first enter the zombie filled building they are all wearing protective gear and helmets (which look like paint-ball helmets), but for some reason they take them off after the first zombie encounter. What? One soldier gets bit, escapes and ends up in a secret strip club, ran by Ian Essko (a nod to Eugène Ionesco, played by Robert Englund) where said soldier kills a stripper (played by Jenna Jameson), who in turns becomes the first zombie stripper. Jameson’s acting is stiff and almost unwatchable.
While there is a lot of gore in this film, most of it’s pretty bad. A weird, and uncomfortable mix of FX and CGI, with exploding heads that look almost cartoony and a very awkward CGI laden scene involving ping-pong balls and Jameson’s nether regions. The jaw ripping scene is much better than most of the effects, but does little to help the film out. Also, it feels like it’s really trying to induce the humor and social-political awareness of other zombie-horror films, like Return of the Living Dead. But in the end, it’s the film’s bad pacing that really hampers it more than anything. My verdict: just a boring film.
