Meat Market 2 DVD Review

In Meat Market 2, a couple surviving characters from the first film, Argenta and the vampire Nemesis, make their way through the wasted society with an additional character, Ferriden. They are introduced to a fenced off complex where a small sec t of people are attempting to rebuild society lead by an ex-motivational speaker. The three main characters are separated upon arrival and they collectively endure all that this bizarre sect of humanity has to offer.
Once again, the acting by the main characters is deplorable. It’s as if the actors were drained of all but the slightest emotion before they turned the cameras on them. It gets old listening to their monotone delivery of unrealistic dialog. A few of the newer characters were acted by people that were able to deliver at least one facet of emotion and bring some aspect of life to the screen.
Everything else in the film was an improvement from the first, even if only slightly. The creators found an interesting set for their sequel and didn’t wallow in their wonderment with it, using it sparingly enough to keep it fresh and real.
It seemed the like the film maker had a lot of fun using everything they could in their no-budget production to make the film as gory and blood-ridden as possible. There are a ton of zombies with fairly passable make-up effects. The pyrotechnics were amped up a little more in this installment as well.
Meat Market 2 makes plenty of use of people willing to show some skin, enough to make the films title chuckle-worthy. But if you’re watching this as a skin flick, you’ll find that the quality is on par with the rest of the films components.
It seems that the creators of Meat Market 2 learned quite a bit since, or possibly from, their first endeavor, Meat Market. It’s a much more concise and flowing production. Still the incredibly poor acting by the main cast is pretty hard to get past. If you’ve seen the first Meat Market, there’s no reason for you to miss Meat Market 2, but beyond that I wouldn’t really recommend this film to anyone but the most die-hard completist zombie movie watcher.
