Descendents Trailer

Here’s the trailer, from Twitch, for the upcoming film Descendents (aka Solos/Alone), by writer/ director Jorge Olguin. It’s scheduled for release in 2008. Following the trailer is a description of the film, from it’s website.

Descendents is an apocalyptic thriller that tells the adventure of a little girl who must survive in a dying world where dangerous military men and people are converted into strange creatures. Shot in just 9 days in different locations in Chile, South America. The film has a stylish and elegant visual treatment, combined with last generation digital effects, impressive make-up effects and most actors are from 5 to 10 years old.

The trailer for this looks pretty good, and I dig the score used in the trailer; the second song reminds me a little of the scores by John Murphy for the 28 Days/ Weeks Later films. Also, check out some still photos from the film, over at Fangoria. We’ll let you know when a release date is set.

Ohhhh this looks promising! It also looks like it’s much better quality than most of the movies I’ve been reviewing lately.

I’m thinking the same thing. If nothing else, it should be different.

dragonlady474: You review zombie movies, you say. Where can one find your reviews?

You can read dragonlady474’s movie reviews here.

    Nate: Thanks man!

dragonlady474: I read one of your reviews and it wasn’t really so much a review as a trashing of the movie. (I didn’t bother to read another one.) Although a fun read, the people who actually made the movie might have better use of more balanced comments. But then again, it might just be the worst piece of zombie movie garbage ever. (I haven’t seen it myself, yet.) But since I’m being totally OT here, I’ll just leave it at that.

On a side-note: Note how I wasn’t being all-out negative in my critizism above. I did point out that dragonlady’s work was fun to read, and that’s important too. Just so I’m not coming off all negative and shit.

Actually Pork eater, you are absolutely right. Sometimes I get really disgusted and all you hear is my opinion on the movie instead of a true review. I guess I get carried away. Also, most of the comments are things I say to my husband during the movie and it cracks him up.
Anyway, no hard feelings, what you said was true. :)

Yeah, it’s nice to watch movies with your significant other. That’s why I prefer to watch something else that zombie movies, just so I can shoot the breeze while we’re at it. My review work I do alone, nowadays, and it feels more and more like hard work (even if it’s also great fun, at least when you stumble upon a previously undiscovered gem of a zombie movie).

I think that I get so frustrated because I get all psyched when I discover a new zombie movie, only to have it suck and find I’ve wasted my money. I went back an looked at the movies I’d rated so far and surprisingly, out of 12 films I only gave 4 bad reviews. I mean, I do say what I don’t like about the movies, even if I liked them. But liking 8 out of 12 isn’t too bad.
btw, the director of Special Dead made it to my main site/review (Dragon’s Den) and said he’d come back to answer any questions we might have. So if you’ve seen it and have any questions…

  8. February 2nd, 2008 | 12:17 pm

Nope, I haven’t seen Special Dead either. (I have over 100 zombie movies quened up for review, so I’m not really looking to add to my burdon.) The only real question that comes to mind is the whole deal with using the disabled as the protagonists.(Some people have reacted very negatively, as one might expect.) I’ve read his thoughts on the subject before, but I’d think others would be interested to hear his piece too.

As I said, I didn’t give your reviews another look, which is kinda unfair. What kind of zombie movie freak would you be if you didn’t like most zombie movies, right? (Now I feel tempted to see what you thought of Special Dead…)

I gave Special Dead a favorable review simply because it made me laugh…hysterically. Even though I felt guilty afterward. It reminded me of a Scary Movie, type movie, only on a lower budget and of course it has zombies in it.

Now I’ve read your review and it was very good, in my opinion. I think you’re supposed to be both ammused and feel guilty about it. I hear disabled people themself have liked the movie (the get to identify with the heroes, for once), and it’s most non-disabled who take offense. But make sure to ask the moviemaker about this matter.

On another side-note: We’re so off-topic that we’ll have Nate riding our respective asses any minute now. ;-)

  12. February 2nd, 2008 | 12:58 pm

You’re right, so we’d better get back on topic…
I like the idea for this film (very original), children dealing with a zombie plague on their own. It gives me the creeps just thinking about it.

Porkeater, I put your comment to the director dude…just waiting for him to come back again (he was on this morning).
