Marvel Zombies Animated DVD possiblities.
ShockTillYouDrop.com has it on good authority that Marvel is set to develop a direct-to-DVD Marvel Zombies animated movie. Given that Marvel has been pretty consistent with releasing live action screen movies along with animated direct to DVD videos, and they are coming out with an Iron Man movie and Hulk movie, it makes sense that they’d bust out something big in the animated DVD realm. There’s no info on any kind of release date, but we’ll keep our ears to the ground for ya.
I saw this earlier this morning on STYD and I was so groggy that it didn’t really sink in until this evening. It would certainly be kickass as an animated feature (with the right artists) but I’m still not 100% sure about this news. I know Marvel has been in a recent animation frenzy but the popularity of the Marvel Zombies franchise is much more suitable for a feature film.
I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
This solves the mystery (?) of the fan movie that got pulled off Youtube (see previous post). Marvel is working on their own adaptation, that is.
Regarding animated movies, I really think that most SF and superhero movies could work even better as animated movies. (Any fantastic element would blend in better into the environment.) Personally I’m still waiting for a animated remake of the Alien movies, Dark Horse style. (That’s not any kind of rumour, by the way, just my wet dream.)
