Walking Dead 50th Issue Variant Cover

The Walking Dead, Image’s popular zombie comic series, is approaching it’s 50th issue. Just to celebrate, Image is releasing a 1 out of every 25 variant superhero cover with art by Savage Dragon’s Erik Larsen and Invincible’s Ryan Ottley. Originally set to be a 1 out of every 100 variant cover Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman decided to up the frequency due to the high level of demand.
“My original intention was to make this a super-rare, limited thing, since the cover itself is so misleading as to what the book actually is. I didn’t want people to be confused and think I’d changed the book drastically. Although, based off feedback I’ve decided to make it much more accessible,” said Kirkman. “I hope those readers and retailers excited for the cover enjoy it as much as I do.”
The Walking Dead 50th issue is due out April 23rd for only $2.99. To see the full article, visit the Image Comics website’s New section or click here.

The flying zombie head is a nice touch…
This news item only served to confuse me, but I’m not really into the zombie comics either, so I guess it would make much more sense to someone else.
I guess not knowing that this is the best zombie comic series ever written, and not at all having anything to do with super-heroes, it might be confusing.
Pork-Eater, you’d love this comic. Go to your local comic book store and ask for The Walking Dead trade paperback number one. If it’s difficult to get to the store, then just buy all 7 trade paperbacks outright, because you’ll totally be wanting to read them all.
The Jef: Yeah, I’ve heard of the graphic novel alright, but never actually read it. (I’m resisting the urge to do so, because that would just get in the way of me doing stuff about zombie MOVIES.) It’s just the cover with the superheroes that confuses me, but I guess that’s alright.
I think I’ll just wait for the serialized TV adaptation. (As if that would happend… A boy can dream, can’t he?)
Actually, I swear I heard some rumors about someone talking about that, so that may not be to far off base.
It might just been me talking about it somewhere else… ;-)
