Dead Island Interview

Dead Island

Primotechnology.com has an interview up with Adrian Ciszewski, producer of the upcoming zombie video game Dead Island.

PT: AI is tricky in a zombie game because zombies don’t have a whole lot of brains to begin with. At least, brains of their own. How do you overcome this?

AC: No one really knows how zombies act because they don’t really exist. That’s why we got a lot of freedom. Of course we want to be accurate with George A. Romero and other creators of the zombie subject. In Dead Island zombies behavior is based on primal instincts, I would even say it’s animal-like. The main character can take advantage of zombies constant hunger for fresh human flesh, for example if he sees a small group of slow walking undead he can act as a bait and get them to a hostile camp to do their thing and I don’t mean engage in small talk.

Heaven’s Gate Web Series In Production

There’s a new zombie web series in production in Michigan, called Heaven’s Gate. You can see the teaser trailer here and read more about the production here. The gore looks good and they seem to have a decent amount of actors willing to get zombified and messed up, but we’ll have to wait and see how the plot and acting turns out. You can read an interview with creator J. Scott here. A quote from J. Scott, from that article:

I like to look at it as the sequel to every zombie movie ever made,” Scott, 33, said. “Most (zombie) movies take place in the city; they show all the destruction – this is the country’s point of view.

We’ll keep you up to date as to when the web series will premiere.

Black Friday Zombie Walk Protest

Zombies walked in protest over the commercialism surrounding Black Friday at a mall in Madison, WI, on November 23rd, as part of Buy Nothing Day. They handed out pamphlets to busy shoppers, but security intervened and the zombies were dispersed. Read more about it and see a few more photos of the event here.

Shaun of the Dead 12 Inch Figures

Sideshow Collectibles has these pretty cool Shaun of the Dead 12 inch figures, including Shaun and Ed. Each figure comes with over 30 points of articulation, detailed clothing, and tons of accessories. Also, if you purchase these figures through the Sideshow website, you also get an exclusive accessory with each figure. Shaun comes with flowers for his mum, and Ed gets an ice cream cone. Aside from their faces looking a little constipated, these are pretty cool figures.

UK Zombie Walk World Record Attempt Fails

Zombie Walk

A few weeks ago we reported a new world record zombie walk attempt in Wales. The event took place last week, and they missed the mark by about 845 people, which makes it officially “not even in the ball park”. But hey it’s all for charity and 280 zombies is still a LOT OF ZOMBIES!

Army of the Dead – new info!

Dawn of the Dead Zack Snyder

Chud.com is reporting that Dawn of the Dead remake director Zack Snyder and his wife Deborah Snyder (who was the executive producer of 300) are starting to talk about a few details of their upcoming Army of the Dead. I won’t link to the article because it has LOTS of pop-up windows and continually locks up my browser, but I’ve copied Deborah Snyder’s quote below:

…so to contain it they basically contain Vegas. The city is this wasteland with walls around it and all of these zombies are inside. One of our characters goes in there to investigate and gets trapped inside and her father goes in to search for her. He can’t do it alone so he gets a group of mercenaries under the guise that there’s money still in the casinos, because they don’t care about his daughter. There’s also a plotline of what’s really going on – like, the containment isn’t so contained and there are cover-ups. We think it’s really fun.

Sounds like a rehash of the plot from Resident Evil: Apocalypse to me so I’m not trying to get my hopes up, despite Snyder’s awesome directing skills with Dawn of the Dead and 300.
