The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead is a monthly comic book series written by Robert Kirkman. It follows a police officer and his family as they try to survive in a zombie apocalypse. The cast of characters is constantly changing as people leave, die, and occasionally become zombies. So many characters come and go - it’s almost the War and Peace of zombie books.

I love this comic and it’s just amazing how it can play on your emotions. You can feel the despair of the characters as they face horrible situations and are forced to make difficult choices. The art is always moody and expressive. In short it’s something you should be reading if you have any interest in zombies at all.

Thank you for bringing this up! I’ve been a huge fan of these ever since their debut when it magically caught my eye as I wandered through a Virgin store back in good ol 2003. I love the style, and I love the story it weaves, and I love how it’s still out in circulation. There are compilations of 6 issues that come out about every 6 months.

    Here’s the Wikipedia entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Walking_Dead

As said, this is a great addition to anyone considering themselves any part of zombia, as it fleshes out the human condition while trying to survive an outbreak (read: not all scantily-leather-clad motorcycle-driving chicks with boomsticks).

Considering that Kirkman plans on continuing Rick’s story for years to come, THE WALKING DEAD literally could become the WAR AND PEACE of zombie books.
He has a looooot of stories to tell. And as long as we keep buying his funny books, he’ll let us read ‘em.
