Is he the world’s smartest zombie? The most human former human? Whatever you may think of the third movie in Romero’s series, everyone always seems to have a soft spot for Bub.

The result of scientists attempting to teach a zombie to be more human, Bub eventually turns on his trainers, but in zombie terms that just makes him more endearing.

Bub was played by actor Sherman Howard with makeup by SFX guru Tom Savini
