Flight of the Living Dead DVD Review

Flight of the Living Dead: Outbreak on a Plane (aka Plane Dead) came out this week on DVD. If this movie sounds like Snakes on a Plane with zombies, well it is…only (slightly) better and with a little more gore.
On a storm plagued flight from LA to Paris, a scientist, on the run from the CIA, has smuggled on a corpse with a nasty little virus. During the horrible thunderstorm, the corpse is knocked free in the cargo bay of the 747 jumbo jet, creating zombie chaos throughout the plane as the virus escapes the plane’s cargo bay.
Flight of the Living Dead does nothing to reinvent the genre, but what it does is deliver a fun, somewhat gory movie. The acting is pretty melodramatic overall, with the best of the bunch being Kevin (Seraphim Falls, The Mummy) O’Connor as the smart-ass “innocent” con Frank, who is being transported to trial on the plane. And even though I didn’t care for all of the characters, I did find myself rooting for certain one’s survival in this chaos filled zombie flight. Also, I could have done without the uninspired CIA secret bunker scenes that were completely unnecessary and slowed down the pace of the film, almost to a deafening halt. This isn’t a groundbreaking zombie film, but you could do worse. I just wish that this great idea could of been executed better. Parachute jumping zombies would of been awesome.

Note: This movie is not to be confused with the completely seperate comic entity, Flight of the Living Dead, which you should also check out.

I liked this movie a lot! And you’re right about the bunker scenes. wth??
