Diary of the Dead gets North American Distribution

diaryofthedead-tsr.jpg

This week George Romero finally got a North American distributor for his highly anticipated film Diary of the Dead. The Weinstein Company picked it up for $2.5 million and a theatrical release was part of the deal according to the Hollywood Reporter. Unfortunately, no release date still. Also, First Showing has up a review of the film from it’s screening at the Toronto International Film Fest. Not the best review, but I’m still geeked to see it.

I thought it was just the U.S. and Mexico, which bothers me because Canada has been so good to Romero.

    Outburst-

The Hollywood Reporter stated that “After a modest day, the relatively dead Toronto market rose to life late Tuesday as North American rights, including Mexico, for “George A. Romero’s Diary of the Dead” went to the Weinstein Co. for $2 million-$2.5 million.
“. Using the term “North American rights, including Mexico” made me think that that included Canada. Reuters is reporting the same thing.
