Jason’s new zombie epic…

the-living-and-the-dead-jason.jpg

Kick-ass Norwegian cartoonist Jason has a new book out from Fantagraphics Press called The Living and The Dead. Just read it the other night and it’s amazing. One of the best zombie comics I’ve ever read, hands down. Everybody needs to check this book out. From the Fanatagraphics website…

Jason returns, for his ninth Fantagraphics graphic novel, to his two-tone mute roots with The Living and the Dead, a George A. Romero-esque zombie comedy that he intends to be the middle installment of his “horror trilogy” begun with the Frankenstein monster love triangle of You Can’t Get There From Here. Jason’s elegant deadpan style somehow manages to make the gruesome gore and splatter effects almost… charming and yes, it is a sweet love story at heart. If you read only one book in which a zombie devours a baby this year (even Romero never quite summoned up the nerve for that), read this one!

Marvel Zombies Action Figure #2

marvel-zombies-colonel-america-figure.jpg

Marvel has announced their newest addition to the Marvel Zombies action figure line with the Colonel America (apparently he’s been promoted) zombie figure. Complete with shield, removable skullcap and Silver Surfer leftovers! He’s the second figure for this line, with Spider-Man being the first. I’m personally hoping the next one is Zombie Galactus. Please. And, let’s not forget the Marvel Zombie mini-mates. Actually, let’s go ahead and forget those…

Obviously, zombies are big right now. Just look at our Zombie Movie Database of upcoming zombie films. Dancing with the Stars - also popular. But, Dance of the Dead? (sorry, not the Living Dead Girlz) Gregg Bishop - an up and coming director, held an open casting call last weekend for zombie extras in a film titled Dance of the Dead. Details are currently non-existant, but we’ll try and keep you updated.
