Fido

Fido is an interesting take on zombie movies. Billy Connoly plays a “pet” zombie in this flick, due out on June 15th. Shaun of the Dead proved that the horror genre could mix with the comedy genre without sucking. Time will tell if Fido does the same. From IMDb:

Timmy Robinson’s best friend in the whole wide world is a six-foot tall rotting zombie named Fido. But when FIDO eats the next-door neighbor, Mom and Dad hit the roof, and Timmy has to go to the ends of the earth to keep Fido a part of the family. A boy-and-his-dog movie for grown ups, “FIDO” will rip your heart out.

Vengeance of the Zombies

march_zombies.gif

Available for the first time ever is Vengeance of the Zombies starring cult horror icon Jacinto Molina (aka Paul Naschy). Deimos Entertainment is releasing it on March 13. From their website:

Vengeance of the Zombies offers a triple threat performance by Naschy as a Hindu mystic, his evil brother and the Devil himself. Zombies, satanic voodoo rituals and gruesome killings combine to make Vengeance of the Zombies a bizarre ride in the best horror tradition, a film that defines the term Euro-cult as few other films can. Reportedly, practitioners of the black arts have found hidden meanings in the film that transcend the picture’s story-telling plotting, making the impact of Vengeance of the Zombies that much more intense–and frightful.

Diary of the Dead preview

Diary of the Dead

Director/producer Michael Felsher will be showing off a special “behind the scenes” preview at Fangoria’s Weekend of Horrors convention is Chicago this month. (We’ve blogged about Diary of the Dead before)
Here at the ZRC, we’ve also managed to dig up a little more info about the film - it supposedly takes place the same night as the original Night of the Living Dead. From an interview with George Romero:

Well, I’m sort of going back to the roots, basically. I’m going back to the first night, when things started. You know, I’ve done the four films in the series… can’t call it a trilogy anymore, cause there’s four of them… but I wanted to… you know there’s a lot of sort of unanswered questions. People keep saying, “Well, you know, like, can animals come back from the dead?” and a million unanswered questions… So I wanted to go back to the very first night, the first night that it started, and I wanted do it from like a different, completely different perspective…

Down on the ZOMBIE FARM…

Zombie Farm

Cannibal farmers in a small California town are turned into zombies when the Taliban poisons the local water source, and it’s up to the FBI and some parting college students to stop them.

If that doesn’t sound like a good time, I don’t know what is.

Originally intended as a straight-to-dvd release, Zombie Farm may end up showing on a limited number of screens. Look for it coming some time in May.

Via Fangoria.
