Those popular Marvel Zombies will soon be turned into action figures. Revealed last week at the American International Toy Fair, only Zombie Spider-man has been officially released but more are expected to follow. Like some of the other Marvel action figures, they will come with parts to build your own giant zombie Silver Surfer.

Applehead Factory presents Tofu the Vegan Zombie. Play the game, learn how to draw him, do a puzzle, watch the cartoon, or check out the Tofu toy that just premeired at Toy Fair this month in New York. What kid wouldn’t want a zombie to play with? From their website:
“Tofu” is a friendly zombie, created from a botched experiment in Professor Vost’s laboratory. Monkey # 5, one of Vost’s lab animals, stuffed a block of tofu into the zombie boy’s open skull after accidentally losing the brain. As a result, “Tofu” eats only vegetables and grains and has no taste for human meat. However, if “Tofu” ever loses his “tofu-brain”, he turns into a dangerous zombie creature, craving human flesh.

The Utne Reader has a great article today about how zombie-mania is preparing twenty-somethings for the apocalypse. I, for one, think this is great. Survival has always been an interest of mine (even as boy before I was even into zombie movies).
One quote from the article says:
Younger generations in particular aren’t eager to place their fate in the hands of FEMA or other government agencies.
Hell yeah! DIY or DIE!

In the comedy-zombie tradition of Shaun of the Dead and Night of the Living Dorks, comes the Irish film, Boy Eats Girl. It oddly stars pop singer-turned-actress Samantha Mumba. It was banned for a short time in it’s homeland of Ireland due to a scene involving a character’s suicide. The film seems to be in limbo for a U.S.release (Lionsgate Films had shown interest in it at one point). Only time will tell if this is any good or just a big pile of shit. We’ll let you know! A description of the film, from their website:
In ‘Boy Eats Girl’ the horror of school takes on a whole new meaning. Forget about the threat of the classroom bully, the anxiety of the rugby field or even the dread of being spurned by the girl you fancy; when your schoolmates develop a taste for human flesh it pays to know who your friends are, and what they’ve been eating.
